นายสิน สีบุญเรืองเกิดเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2436 ที่ตำบลคุ้งน้ำวน อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดราชบุรีเป็นบุตรของนางนิ่ม สีบุญเรือง และนายฮุดเส็งเจ้าของกิจการหนังสือพิมพ์จีนโนสยาม เมื่อมีอายุได้ 10 ปีมารดาได้พาเข้ามาศึกษาที่กรุงเทพในสำนักท่านพระครู(กล่อม)เจ้าอาวาสวัดสามปลื้ม แต่แทนที่จะตั้งใจเรียนหนังสือเด็กชายสินกลับใช้เวลาส่วนใหญ่ไปกับการสนใจในมหรสพ ต่างๆ ข่าวการไม่สนใจการเรียนของ นายสินล่วงรู้ถึงหูของบิดาสร้างความไม่พอใจเป็นอย่างมากถึงกับขนาดตัดนายสินออกจากกองมรดก นายสินเมื่อไร้ที่พึ่งจึงออกตระเวนหางานตามที่ต่างๆเพื่อเลี้ยงตัวเองหลังจากหาอยู่นาน ในที่สุดก็ได้เข้าทำที่โรงหนังวังเจ้าปรีดาของนายซุ่นใช้ โดยมีหน้าที่ทำเสียงประกอบระหว่างฉายหนังเงียบ จึงเป็นที่มาของบรมครูนักพากย์
